Verónica Amarante is a Professor at Instituto de Economía (Iecon) from the Economics Department at Universidad de la República (Udelar) in Uruguay. She is also Research Fellow at the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP). She integrates the National Research System (Level II). Previously, she was the Director of ECLAC Office in Montevideo and she worked for the Social Development Division of ECLAC (UN). Her research interests are development economics, gender and labor economics, with emphasis on Uruguay and Latin America. She studied economics at Universidad de la Republica in Uruguay, received a MSc in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain) and a PhD in Economics from University of Sussex (United Kingdom).
