Projects selected for PEP support under PAGE II

A total of 29 projects, in 22 different countries, are currently being supported under the first round of the PAGE II initiative (full list below). PEP selected the new grant recipients the from 420 applications received in response to a series of calls for proposals that were launched in 2016. The selection was made following the presentation of the finalist proposals during 2017 PEP Annual Conference in Nairobi, where the researchers also attended four days of training sessions, including technical training specific to their research methods and more general training on policy engagement and communicating research findings.

The 29 projects include:

  • 15 projects in low-income economies and/or fragile or conflict-affected situations (LIE/FS) -  see list of targeted countries
  • 19 projects in Africa, 4 in Latin America, 3 in Asia, 2 in Eastern Europe and 1 in the Middle East
  • 11 projects led by female team leaders and 13 projects that focus primarily on gender issues

These projects involve a total of 143 researchers, of whom:

  • 83 are women
  • 77 are in low-income economies and/or fragile or conflict-affected situations

From gender pay gaps and gender disparities to food security and the micro, small, and medium enterprise sectors, the projects selected investigate various aspects of the five PAGE II priority themes.

In the table below, the projects are grouped according to the analytical approach (or research method applied). Follow the code links in the left hand column to view the project description and related (upcoming) publications.
