CBMS Poverty Maps

Poverty Mapping has been a vital tool in the use and analysis of CBMS data.  As part of the data processing component of implementing the CBMS, poverty maps are generated from the CBMS database using QGIS. Prior to 2013, the generation of CBMS-poverty maps is being done using the NRDB software.

Poverty maps allow for easy comparison across geographic levels.

Poverty maps are easily understood by laymen.

Use of color-coded maps in analysis of the CBMS data makes it simpler for local chief executives and program implementers to use.

To show which Puroks are performing better or worse than the others, we always use the following color scheme: shades of blue.

That is, the darker the shade of blue, the better the situation of the Purok vis-à-vis the indicator.

At the household level:

Green dots represent households performing better than other households for a particular indicator while

Red dots represent households worse than other households

Poverty maps allow displaying different dimensions of poverty simultaneously.
