Research Fellows

PEP Research Fellows are senior researchers selected, on a competitive basis, to contribute to key PEP research, training and policy activities. They all are developing country nationals and almost all continue to live and work in a developing country.

2020-2021 PEP Fellow Publication Awards

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2020-2021 awards for the best journal publications authored by a PEP Research Fellow (three prizes) and the most downloaded PEP working paper co-authored by a PEP Research Fellow (one prize).

These prizes aim to support PEP's Research Fellow community and recognize their achievements. They reward the efforts of the Fellows to promote Southern-led research and offer an alternative to the high-profile Northern-based, global economic development research centres and think tanks.

The PEP Program Committee assessed the applications for "best publications" based on the PEP journal classification, SCImago Journal Rank (SJR - a measure of the scientific influence or impact of the journal), as well as the regional, gender and program balance.

The Program Committee was impressed by the high quality of all submissions and the particularly outstanding publications of the four prize winners:

We thank Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) for providing funding that made this competition possible. We hope to repeat similar competitions in the future, subject to the availability of funding.
