PEP researchers shared their project progress and developed their research communication skills at the CEDCA Global Cohort Learning Workshop.Three PEP researchers and PEP’s Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator participated in the CEDCA Global Cohort Learning Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, at the end of February.
The three-day event brought together around 50 participants from the organisations undertaking research projects as part of the Clean Energy for Development: A Call for Action (CEDCA) initiative.
As a knowledge translation workshop, the event aimed to pool the participants’ expertise for better collaboration, mutual learning and to increase the impact of the CEDCA initiative.
PEP researchers Laura Barasa (Kenya, pictured below) and Trung Hoang (Vietnam) presented posters to share their research progress on the first day of the event.
"The workshop gave us a forum to network with and learn from research teams. There were a lot of similarities in the questions we were studying and we had a chance to receive feedback on our proposed methodology," said Dr Barasa.
These research projects are supported by PEP in partnership with Environment for Development (EfD) under the Leveraging renewable energy MSMEs for sustainable agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia program.
As well as the poster session, the participants benefitted from discussion and training sessions on increasing research impact, improving research communication, and identifying research gaps relating to clean energy and climate finance. The event also featured a keynote presentation, and a panel discussion on inclusive energy transition.
"The workshop equipped me with effective strategies for communicating with policymakers," said Dr Trung.
The event was organised by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Institute for Development Studies (IDS), the organisations providing funding and knowledge translation support, respectively, for the 12 CEDCA research projects.
