In this article, we highlight the contributions of Habiba Djebbari, who remains an influential mentor for PEP's experimental research group. The success of PEP has been a collective effort. In recognition, we are publishing a series of articles spotlighting the dedicated people who have contributed to PEP's development and how their contributions have enabled us to support locally-led development in the Global South for over 20 years.
Habiba Djebbari
Habiba Djebbari headed a PEP research program that employed experimental research techniques during her tenure as an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the Université Laval. Among these experimental techniques were randomized control trials and field experiments.
From 2007 until 2012, she led the development of this Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)-funded program.
In her current position as a professor of economics at Aix-Marseille Université in France, Habiba continues to play a vital role as a mentor and resource person to PEP's experimental research group.

“One of my dearest achievements in PEP is that the experimental research program is now led by one of our former PEP experimental researchers, Maria Laura Alzua, who took it to another level, strengthening the research-policy dialogue, engaging with many different funding partners and significantly increasing the scientific publication output."
