PEP is pleased to announce the four fellows selected to participate in the Africa Fellows in Education program (AFEP) 2023/2024.PEP is pleased to announce the inaugural cohort of the Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP).
After an extensive evaluation of proposals from over 200 talented researchers across Africa, we have selected Heleen Hofmeyr (South Africa), Jaah Mkupete (Tanzania), Amadou Jallow (Gambia), and Yselle Flora Malah Kuete (Cameroon) to participate in the Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) for the 2023/2024 program cycle.
The program is a two-year initiative hosted by PEP and the Global Education Analytics Institute (GEAI), with the support of Yidan Prize project funding. Through rigorous research and evaluation projects, the AFEP aims to shape education policies in the fellows' home countries to improve decision-making in this sector.
The program not only reinforces the importance of local research but also advocates for transparent and useful data from student assessments as a pathway to improving school performance. This initiative will equip fellows with the advanced skills necessary to evaluate educational research and performance data and improve decision-making in the educational sector in Sub-Saharan Africa.
By fostering a network of local researchers and enabling them to promote sound, analytically based local policies, AFEP aims to contribute to long-term educational improvement and economic development.
PEP extends its sincere congratulations to the inaugural cohort. We look forward to collaborating with these distinguished fellows to enhance their research expertise as they drive meaningful change within their communities.
