PEP is pleased to announce the fourth cohort of the Africa Fellows in Education program for 2026/2027.
PEP is pleased to announce the 2026/27 cohort of the Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP).
Building upon the success of the first three rounds, PEP and the Global Education Analytics Institute (GEAI) are proud to support a new cohort of ten fellows for this fourth edition of the program.
A team of internal and external reviewers selected ten talented candidates from more than 134 applicants spanning Sub-Saharan Africa. The fellows hail from nine countries of the sub-continent and represent diverse fields of expertise.
“The diversity of the candidates shows the program's inclusivity and breadth,” said Ramaele Moshoeshoe, Director of the AFEP. “We are excited to welcome this new cohort of highly talented Africans who are deeply invested in education policy research and evidence-informed advocacy.”
The 2026/27 fellows are:

- Emmanuel Idohou (Benin)
- Samuel Kandidziwa (Malawi)
- Steven Katende (Uganda)
- Phionah Namuliira (Uganda)
- Romuald Landry Nguemkap Kouamo (Cameroon)
- Priscilla Njue (Kenya)
- Francis Gyedu Obeng (Ghana)
- Chinelo Ochonma (Nigeria)
- Gulled Yasin (Somalia)
About AFEP
This two-year research and policy development fellowship provides mentorship and international networking opportunities. Fellows will gain relevant research and analytical experiences while actively engaging with international researchers, policy advisers and civil society.
“AFEP is more than a fellowship—it is a platform for building the next generation of African leaders in education research,” said Dr. Moshoeshoe.
