Go Shimada is an Associate Professor at Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan. He is also the Editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Development Studies, Founding board member of the Japanese Association for Development Economics (JADE), Executive Director of the Japan Society for International Development Studies (JASID), Board Member of the Japan Association for Human Security Studies (JAHSS), Visiting Scholar at the University of Shizuoka, and an Adjunct Researcher at Waseda University, Tokyo.
He has published and co-edited a number of academic journal articles, books, book chapters, and working papers on industrial policy and poverty issues and disaster and social capital.
Before these, He was an Associate Professor at the University of Shizuoka, Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN, and JICA. He has his Ph.D. from Waseda University and M.A.(with Distinction) from the University of Manchester.
Dr. Shimada is a member of the Board of the Partnership for Economic Policy.
