Issue of resilience may be interesting to investigate: more vulnerable employers could develop coping mechanisms they faced with higher risks, for instance by having more than one job or having another member in the household work. What do we know about these? Could bring such variables in the model, in addition to including a lagged dependent variable to better capture the dynamic nature of such issue.
