Rural households in Cambodia face overlapping risks from climate shocks, livestock disease, and gender inequality, reinforcing cycles of poverty. Local PEP-supported researchers evaluated the AGROW project, which used a gender-responsive One Health approach integrating human, animal, and environmental health.
They found that the integrated model strengthens household resilience and women’s empowerment, with beneficiaries better able to withstand shocks and women gaining decision-making power. Peer learning through Women-Led Groups effectively transferred technical knowledge and supported income diversification. However, results varied across sectors, showing the need for strong technical support, market linkages, and tailored assistance for vulnerable households.
