Although more than three quarters of Burkina Faso’s population are under 35, current policies to boost youth employment have had limited success. A team of local PEP researchers reviewed the country’s youth employment policies and assessed their cost-effectiveness. Their simulations show how creating a permanent research centre to inform and evaluate youth employment policy and programs is vital. This step would significantly increase policy reach, improve efficiency and reduce the cost of job-creation more than simply increasing the budget for youth employment programs.
