Agricultural investments, labor productivity and rural poverty reduction: gender disparities in Togo

I. About CBMS-Togo

Objectives of the Project

  • Develop and implement a community-based monitoring system (CBMS) to monitor the different dimensions of poverty, in the selected areas;
  • Produce data as inputs to the preparation of local development plans; 
  • Prepare a paper on the analysis of CBMS data to answer the research issues on rural poverty reduction; and
  • Estimate the causal impact of agricultural investment on labor productivity by gender
  • Analyze the effects of labor productivity change on rural poverty reduction by gender
  • Analyze the changes in poverty profile (community and household level) of the CBMS previous rural sites over the period 2015 – 2017, using the CBMS poverty maps, descriptive statistics and other statistical tools.

Initiate and promote exchanges and debates on the national and international economic situation; 3.) Disseminate the results of research; and 4.) CBMS-TOGO PHASE 1

Willingness to Pay of the Togolese Informal Sector Workers for Access to the Social Protection: The Case Study of the CNSS  Social Protection 

I. About CBMS-Togo

Objectives of the Project
•    Development and pilot test a CBMS implementation in Tokoin situated at Lomé (urban area) and Tsévié (rural area)
•    Preparation of community poverty and household-level poverty profile and maps of the selected site/s
•    Produce data as inputs to the preparation of local development plans
•    Preparation of a paper on the analysis of CBMS data to answer the research issues on providing social protection to the informal sector
•    Estimation of the economic value that the informal sector workers in Togo grant to a policy aiming to include them in the social protection system of CNSS
