Professor Adeola Adenikinju is a Professor of Economics at the University of Ibadan. He served as Director of the Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law (CPEEL) from 2012 to 2021 and was Senior Special Assistant to the President in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser. He was later appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In October 2023, Professor Adenikinju became the 44th President of the Nigerian Economic Society, where he is a life member and former business manager. He is also a Fellow and past President of the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics. Earlier in his career, he contributed to the preparation of Nigeria’s First Perspective Plan and participated in the United Nations Project Link, which developed economic projections for the Nigerian economy.
Professor Adenikinju has consulted for numerous national and international organizations, including the European Union, United Nations, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG), African Economic Research Consortium, OECD, UNIDO, ECOWAS, UNECA, the World Bank, and the National Data Bank.
