John Ataguba, a PEP research fellow, has been appointed as the sole African member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Health and Healthcare

The Council brings together 14 international health and healthcare experts and stakeholders to explore how healthcare systems should be redesigned by 2050 in light of new paradigms for homecare, precision medicine, and delivering value to individuals in the healthcare system. 

Professor Ataguba is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Health Economics Unit at the University of Cape Town. His research interests include health financing, inequality and equity in health and health services, the economics of alcohol, program impact and effectiveness evaluation, poverty analysis and social determinants of health.

In addition to his role as a PEP research fellow, Prof. Ataguba previously participated in PEP-supported studies on healthcare financing and on missing poverty dimensions in Nigeria.
