PEP Guinean researcher, Aboubacar Kaba, has recently been appointed by presidential decree as the National Director of the Bureau of Development Strategy, for the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation in Guinea.

Prior to this nomination, Mr Kaba was a research, in charge of project monitoring and evaluation, at the Guinean Office of the United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA). He was member of a small team of Guinean researchers whose project had been selected for PEP support in 2006. The PEP project PMMA-10665 was successfully completed in 2009 with the publication of the research working paper 2009-02 entitled “Educational and Health Public Utilities in Guinea: Redistributive Effects of Government Politics” (the paper was published in French for national dissemination purposes).

This new assignment, at the head of this important government office, implies that Mr Kaba will henceforth be responsible to elaborate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the various intervention programs and strategies of the Ministry of Health in Guinea. Mr Kaba has stated that he will be relying on the work of local PEP researchers to assist him in such task.
