Part of the PEP-UNDP "Poverty and Social Impact Analysis" (PSIA) initiative, this study sought to assess the impact of microcredit on the empowerment of female household heads in Benin, using statistical (pro-score) matching techniques. The results show that access to microcredit does have a positive and significant impact on women's empowerment, in particular through the dimensions of "social responsiblities and living conditions" and "cultural rights and participation".
