World Bank Core Course on Safety Nets to be held in December

“For Protection and Promotion: the Design and Implementation of Effective Social Safety Nets”. Application deadline is October 7, 2011

The World Bank has announced that the “Safety Nets Core Course” will be held on December 5 -16, 2011 in Washington, DC. This year's course is designed to help policy makers, development professionals, practitioners and partners grapple with key questions dealing with the implementation of safety net interventions (including specific focus on beneficiaries' registration, payment systems and management information systems); policy analysis; design of integrated safety net systems and bench-marking their performance; as well as new developments and lessons learned during the most recent crises. This year's course will provide more customization and in-depth treatment of nuts and bolts of implementing social safety net programs (targeted to practitioners), as well as diagnostics and use of new analytical tools to assess programs' impacts (targeted to policy analysts). We will combine face-to-face learning with extensive use of media and distance learning material.

As teamwork is important in safety net programs, interested countries are encouraged to nominate teams engaged in the design, implementation and/or evaluation of safety net programs.

For more information, please consult the event’s brochure and application form.
The materials and link to the on-line registration form can also be found at the new website at: http://www.worldbank.org/safetynets/sncc2011.

Deadline for registration is October 7, 2011
