The objective of the conference is to further our understanding, from an empirical and measurement perspective, developments in the area of income levels, income growth, productivity, poverty, and inequality In Africa. The conference will feature sessions dealing with problems and issues in macro measurement issues such as national income andproductivity. Price measurement issues and international comparisons in income measurement (related to the upcoming ICP round) could also be topics of the conference. The conference will also have sessions dealing with micro measurement issues such as problems and challenges in the measuremet of poverty and inequality using income and non‐income approaches, objective and subjective measures of well‐being, measurement of employment and time use, and associated statistical and methodological issues. Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of the Review of Income and Wealth.
