PEP publicizes news and events from the development research community that may be of interest to its members.
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts and organized session proposals for the GTAP 21st Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis to be held June 13-15, 2018, in Cartagena, Colombia.
The theme of the conference is "Framing the future through the Sustainable Development Goals" with sub-themes on:
- Technology, wages and growth
- The changing architecture of trade policies
- Energy transformation—winners and losers
- Challenges to achieving the sustainable development goals
The goal of the conference is to promote the exchange of ideas among economists conducting quantitative analysis of global economic issues. Particular emphasis will be placed on applied general equilibrium methods, data, and application. Related theoretical and applied work is also welcome.
Travel Funding Opportunities
Early-career researchers can apply for reimbursement of the basic costs associated with attending the conference. This funding is provided to support the participation of promising young researchers at the conference and encourage their contributions to the use and further development of analytical software for CGE modelling. Individuals interested in being considered for the travel funding reimbursement opportunities detailed below must indicate so on the abstract submission form. Conference Mentoring Program
In an effort to support first-time presenters at the GTAP Conference, a mentoring program is available that will pair accepted first-time presenters with mentors who will assist in fine-tuning their presentations and also help the presenter network and better integrate into the GTAP Conference. First-time presenters that are interested in the mentoring program should indicate so on the abstract submission form.
